For Abby

DO YOU STILL REMEMBER, ABBY?

ABBY.. That's not real name.. I just gave her that name when I wrote my note last January 05, 2009. Remember her? The abused wife, who was shattered physically, spiritually, emotionally by her philandering husband ? The title of my note then was " COMFORTED TO COMFORT. ".Remember this? You could review this on my notes last year, 2009.

WHY ABBY??? In my ministry for battered and abused women, I usually call each woman, sent to me by God to minister as ABBY..It is a nickname I give to every - ABIGAIL. Why ABIGAIL?" In SMITH'S BIBLE DICTIONARY, ABIGAIL means ( father, i.e. source, of joy.)
1. The beautiful wife of Nabal, a wealthy owner of goats and sheeps in Carmel. ( B.C. 1060.) When David's messengers were slighted by Nabal, Abigail supplied David and his followers with provisions, and succeeded in appeasing his anger. Ten days after this, Nabal died, and David sent for Abigail to be his wife.1 Sam. 25:14, etc. By her he had a son, called Chileab in 2nd Sam. 3:3, but Daniel in 1 Chronicles 3:1..

Abby's husband dealt her the " final blow " when after receiving his " severance pay" left her with all the unpaid rented apartment, many bills to pay, and etc..And he left her few days before Christmas, to be with his lover in the Philippines ! But her " ABBA," her heavenly Father, intervened.. He came.. and in many mysterious ways and means.. showed her... I am still your Father.. I am here.. I will never leave you.. nor forsake you... And it gave her PEACE.. JOY..Last Tuesday, in our prayer meeting, she cried out in thanksgiving to what her ABBA is doing in her life.. AWESOME GOD!!!

TO ALL THE " ABIGAILS" out there, JUST HANG IN THERE.. PRAY.. CRY OUT YOUR HEARTS TO GOD, YOUR MAKER.. YOUR FATHER.. HE IS THERE.. WATCHING.. FOR THE RIGHT TIME TO STEP INTO YOUR LIVES.. AND WHEN HE COMES, HE WILL STAY.. NO MATTER WHAT.. TO SHOW YOU HE LOVES YOU.. HE CARES! SHALOM!*< lua...

"DO YOU STILL REMEMBER?"

January 20, 2010, Wednesday
Daly City

In Your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore. - Psalm 16:11

Yesterday, I dismantled the last Christmas decor in our home. It was the floral centerpiece, one of the 10 table accents used during our Church Christmas party, last December 20, 2009. A month has passed. It was a " love gift " by a very dear friend to her Lord and Savior for HIS BIRTHDAY...In the middle was a red candle, the flowers were very deep-red carnations and white ones, and golden balls, and mistletoe, ribbons, and evergreen leaves, that hold all these stuff together, set on a bottle-green colored clay pot. It was beautiful! The flowers have wilted, ( but of course!) The other items could be recycled. But one thing, I was amazed.. was the " evergreen leaves ". It was still very evergreen fresh! ( It has to be that way, to live up to its name, right?" ) Ha ha ha!!
EVERGREEN...Right infront of our new home, were evergreen shrubs.. When we transferred here last October 2009, my daughter pointed them to me.. " Ma, those are evergreen shrubs. The ones they use for Christmas wreath and decors" .."Ah, ok"... I simply said.

The thousand and one details of keeping things, and organizing, and reorganizing a new home, plus, the so hectic skeds of the past holiday seasons, left me no time to really check on the 2 big patches of evergreens infront of our house..And always, every morning when I wake up, when I open myglass windows, I will just give said evergreens a brief look, or none at all. They are simply, part and parcel of my everyday life, no more.. no less..This is small stuff.. I want to focus on the bigger things..especailly in this New Year 2010. What are evergreen leaves??? They are so insignificant!! In our Tagalog dialect..BALE WALA ITO.. meaning... this is no BIG DEAL!"

TILL THIS MORNING... Wednesday...The past days has brought forth hard rains in the Bay Area, and that includes our place here at South San Francisco. I opened my windows, and I was " FORCED" to look at the evergreens in front of our home! They were beautiful and really evergreen fresh!!! For the " first time" I gave it a second long look!

And as I looked at the evergreen leaves on my table and tenderly held them in my hands. ( I air-dried them yesterday, to be pressed today in my flower-leaves presser,) Lo and behold, I heard a gentle whisper in my heart.. a still, small voice said - " Lynn, DO YOU STILL REMEMBER?? " ( For most of us, if not all of us have had these " precious moments" with God.) " Remember what, Lord God? " Remember in your FIRST CHRISTMAS HERE IN THE USA ( I arrived here October 14, 2008.) As you were admiring all the beautiful fresh flower arrangements and Christmas wreaths, in a big organic supermart you uttered something like, Lord, - I wish we could have an evergreen tree in our garden so I could make fresh floral and wreath arrangements for our church, in our home, and give some to our dear friends here if not this Chritmas, next Christmas, 2009.." Did I say those words, Lord?" " YES, YOU DID.. and I REMEMBER ".

I was so silent... I want to cry... " I AM SORRY, LORD." I forgot.. I thought that it was just one of the many countless " wishful thinking" that I have had." But ..." I REMEMBER."

Then suddenly, I REMEMBERED... During the early days before Christmas, when my son-in-law Joby, who has a knack for interior decoarating and who is in-charge of said ministry in our church told me as he was checking on the Christmas decors, said something like, " O, Ma, baka gusto ninyong gumawa ng Christmas wreaths para sa bahay, lalo na sa church natin.and pointed to the evergreen shrubs in front of our home." I heard it..But did I really listen??? I CHOSE NOT TO LISTEN... BUT GOD LISTENED... and ANSWERED my " wishful talking." HE DID...BECAUSE HE LOVES ME...FORGIVE LORD... FORGIVE...

The Little Things in Life

DATELINE: Daly San Francisco, USA
AUGUST 05, 2009
9:15 PM

My Abba.. Our FATHER,

Good evening, Lord God.
For the past two days, the sun smiled at Daly City. The past two months of my kids stay here from their summer vacation from Guam, the weather has been cold, windy, and foggy. But nonetheless, whatever kind of weather one is in, when you are around people you love, nothing matters anymore. Praise You for those very, very precious moments.!!

Sometime, many years back, while I was watching TBN- ( Trinity Broadcasting Network), the In-house pastor named Gary Zamora said: - “ Ask the right question and God will give you the right answer.” I would presume that all living beings on this blue planet earth ( as the moon- walkers of Apollo 11 named it ) have had question/s unanswered in their beings one time or the other. It struck my mind, and like the wonder in a child’s mind, I uttered- “ Lord God, is this TRUE?” ( It could be true somehow, because those words came from the mouth of the Head Pastor of said prestigious satellite company, one of the largest worldwide.) I reviewed my list of the many unanswered question/s as far as I can remember, since my childhood..( in later years I would learn that this is part of an “ spiritual discipline” called “ life-mapping.” ), and miracle of miracles, God answered all my questions, at different seasons and times. Simply amazing!

So, it started a “ new adventure/s” in my life! I have been traveling, most of my life, in different parts of the country, doing what I thought then was just a part of “ growing up” at the age of 16 years old , ( little did I know that God was slowly laying down the foundation of my mission work by and for Him.) I love to be alone, most times, but the lure of the country side, beckons me time and again to go to the mountains. There were plenty of wild sunflowers, many other different kinds of plants, trees, grasses, and all that, but what fascinated me most was the lifestyle of the “ negritoes” of the mountains. The barrio folks called them “ balugas.” I remember a song we sang, when we were in the elementary grades. It goes like this - “ negritoes of the mountains, what kind of food do you eat? What kind of food do you eat, negritoes of the mountains? We eat some pork for viand. We eat some pork for viand, we people of the mountains.” They grow their own kind of vegetables. They have “ tomatoes” of their own. ( small, so red and so sour in taste! ) I played with their kids, ate their food, talked with them, bemused by their lifestyle. I had some moments of harvesting with the farmers from the lowlands, sharing with them, knowing and listening to them on their many stories. Those were my first “ mission exposure trips.” That place is called Little Baguio, at Sapang Bato, ( a place of stones, literally) in Angeles, Pampanga. This is a settlement of people, located, at the “ barbed wire fence” outside of Clark Air Force Base, during the early 60‘s. The lowlands, and even the hills and mountains are covered with light grey sands. Why is this so? It is quite unusual to see sands, on top of the mountains.) It is beautiful, they glimmer in the sunlight! That was the first question I asked my eldest sister who have remarried for several years, to a local native of said place. Most of them are born and raised there. They are called “ Kapampangans” or “ Pampangenos” because they are natives of the province of Pampanga. Add up to the sands are great boulders of stones, different sizes are deeply embedded on the ground.? And I started to question- “ how were all the people, before and after them, placed all these things in place.. Natural formations? The only answer my Ate ( elder sister would say, it has been there, a long time ago.) No one knows the answer to my question/s even the older folks in that place.) It became just that, all questions, no answers.

I studied, worked, later married and had a family of my own. The normal process of life. Then the Eruption of Pinatubo came! That was June 15, 1991. It was a day after my late mom’s natal day. That fateful day, a group of workers were installing our deep well water connection, in our home in Las Pinas. It was a love-gift from my second daughter from her working stint for more than 2 years in Australia. The workers and the owner of the deep drilling were chatting and enjoying the sweet guava fruits, we have inside our garden. Then at about before or past 3:00 pm, slowly the skies grew dim, for no reason, at all. It was a very sunny day, and weather don’t just change from sunny to dark at such time of day! We looked at each other, silently.. Something is wrong, somewhere., somehow. There was an eerie feeling amongst all of us present at that time. Later it was shown in our TV screen, that Mt. Pinatubo, in Zambales, erupted! This was the same mountain where the late President Ramon Magsaysay and company lost their lives in a plane crash. March 17, 1957. That day is my second elder sister’s birthday. ( more on this date later.) My parent’s house, my eldest sister’s house and all of her children who lived there, and almost all of the people in said place lost everything they have due to the heavy ash falls. It was so pathetic! As they were narrating on how it all happened, my niece, the eldest daughter who lived on the “friendship area” ( the business sector, in front of CAB) saw it first hand from their quilts and baskets store, in front of Clark Air Base then.It was simply horrifying to see “ big stones, flaming hot red orange in color, at times bigger than the ordinary jeepneys being plied at Metro Manila, being spewed out of the mountaintop! Thereafter the hot flowing lavas, destroying everything and causing havoc within their paths. Geographically, Zambales is quite far from Pampanga. It was said the ash falls reached some place through the skies, and it was felt in some places, worldwide.

Different stories came from the tri-media, and one report said that Pampanga was once a delta, a river, a body of water. According to folktales, and there must be some truth to it, that it was only when Mt. Pinatubo, erupted 600 years or more that a land was formed out of that eruption, and from this came, Pampanga and other neighboring provinces. As I was listening to all their stories, a still small voice whispered, “ now you know.” I said, “Lord, thank you.” As I grew older in my walk with God, in this journey called Life, I no longer focus on the “ big things” God is doing in our lives. I focus more on the “ little things” that God does for us, the “ little serendipities” of life.. The time when surprisingly God will whisper gently in my heart- “ I am here.” There was that song when I was that young - “blow me a kiss from across the room. Say I look nice, when I’m not. Touch my hair as you pass my chair, Little things mean a lot.” It is these “ little things” in our moments with God, a sigh, a tear, a groan when we cannot find the words to say, the Spirit of God quickens us, and open our eyes, to those “ little things” that at times, we take for granted. Look out for those “ little things.“ Be watchful of them.. Most times, they spell a“ big difference” in our every day existence. We just don’t exists, we need to live each day to the fullest! Most times, in our dreary and monotonous days, it lifts us up, it makes or break our day! Every day counts, every moments shared with loved ones, gives color, joy and positive feelings within us. It moves our eyes upward to that One up there who sees us, and died for us for our joy to be full! The fullness of joy, unspeakable. Gratefulness, another name for it is thankfulness in everything, is something He repeatedly stated in His Word. If my Father could give attention to the very tiniest details of my life, then that’s “ One Big Halleluyah!” The “ big things” will come, out of the “ little things” we do in our lives. H said that, isn’t it ? ( Luke 16:10.) He who made the promises are faithful! The long list of my questions and answers since I was that small, have whittled down. I have learned through the years of my life, JESUS CHRIST is the Answer in all aspects of our lives. It took years, but the answer came! Take time out to make your questions/answers list, and you will be amazed indeed, as written in Psalm 139:17-18: How precious to me are your thoughts, Oh God! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of the sand. When I awake I am still with you..

And out of that seemingly tragic event, stories came, mystical stories even, from people and at the end of all their stories, they were thanking God, inspite of.. for sparing their lives.. It will be hard they say, but withhis God’s help they could rise up, and build once again.( Nehemiah 2:18.) As long as there is life, there is hope, that was the common thread of their stories. Praise God! Each one has a story to tell, and I remember the “ Desiderata” of old. Once again, because He has children in that tragedy, their Lord proved Himself faithful.. He never left them, nor forsake them in their hour of need. His eternal love encompassed them as they were going through that rough ordeal, by virtue of having accepted his Son Jesus Christ, as their Lord and Savior, the truth of His Word gave “ deeper meaning” into their lives. He once again, presented Himself of who he really is - as written in Genesis 50:20 - “ you intended it for harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.” This quote came from Joseph, the “ Dreamer” during his dramatic and tearful confrontation with his very own blood brothers after years of separation, restoration has come to their household. The house of Jacob which later on will be renamed ISRAEL.

Through it all, one thing remains constant, and that is God’s unfailing love. The value of having a christian heritage. All these things, I pondered in my heart. Therein started, my desire, that grows deeper into my whole being each passing years, then till now - “ I want to trace my “ Roots” like Alex Haley’s renowned story “ Roots,” written many years ago, by an African slave named Kunta Kinte. I believe that as God has planned, every family has a “distinct role” to play in His Kingdom, with different giftings, at times similar ones. In every family, a member of that clan will be designated a unique role, and that is to be the “ historian, at times called scribe, writer, a chronicler of people and events. It is written in the Bible through all the history of the Jewish people, His very own people, God raised up chroniclers, scribes like Ezra. If not for these people as prompted by the Spirit of God in them, we will not be reading the great works of their fruitful labors. Obedience, excellence of life and skills begot our Manual for Living- the greatest book of all times, and that is the Holy Bible. Herein lies the His-story of humankind, made in their image, (Gen.1:27.) revealing His plans - past, present, and future, because the “ Greatest writer, is God himself !

PRAYER FOR TODAY: Father God, you have a Book, the book of Life… May our life be a constant reminder, that it is your “His-tory” in each and every one of us, that matters to you most, because we are Your children. Help us, guide, teach and mould us into the Jeremiah 29:11 Plan of our life. Our life is your greatest gift to us, what we do with our lives, is our greatest gift to You. May we be worthy of our heritage- the Power of Your Name in us, and we carry that very precious name - “ Children of the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, the Creator of this vast universe.” Praise and thank You, Lord God, In JESUS NAME, Amen!

Why the Past? Part 2

Bakit?? Kase, the whole of the museum ay project ng Bank of America!!!Again, makikita ang character ng Japanese eh.. bakit most times, nananalo sila.. HINDI NAMAN NILA IYON,( mga treasures) sa Museum.. PINAHIRAM LANG NILA FOR A SEASON.. Gusto nila kase malaman ng bawa't manonood doon... HOW PROUD THEY ARE OF THEIR RACE!!! NOH..according to my anak...Yung iba't ibang stages ng pagtawa ! Bigla kong naisp - " HE WHO LAUGHS LAST, LAUGHS LOUDEST!!! Sabi ko sa isip ko.. Linda.. museum ito ha?? Museum.. Dapat dito.. keep quiet. At rule nga pala, NO PICTURE-TAKING..

So, Pinoy to Pinoy, pwedeng maareglo..

But in a way, panalo.. pa rin ang Samurai, eh.. Would you believe that the whole exhibit and I mean - THE WHOLE EXHIBIT ABOUT THE SAMURAIS, ISA LANG ANG OWNER?? ISANG PAMILYA LANG??? Na all these treasures, PINAGTIYAGAAN .. SININOP.. ng pamilyang ito sa " sarili" nilang " castle" na 700 years old na!!! Same as the treasures they hold in their hands.. FANTASTIC !!!! COMMITMENT???..PRIDE OF THEIR ROOTS... Ganoon katindi ang kanilang " ROOTS".. VERY, VERY PROUD!!!! Kaya nga, it took an Atomic- Bomb, for them to surrender during the WWII years!!!! ANG MGA Japanese CHARACTER.. INTEGRITY.. THE WHOLENESS OF A MAN.. ONE OF THE GREATEST RULES THAT A SAMURAI NEEDS TO LEARN AND UNDERSTAND TO THE FULLEST MEANING OF THAT WORD is- EACH DAY MIGHT BE THEIR LAST DAY ON EARTH. They " need" and it is a " must" that they live each passing day, with EXCELLENCE.. with integrity.. and all that it takes to be a man.. baka yun na ang LAST DAY NILA.. Di ba biblical din ito??

Kabaligtaran ng mga Pinoys!!! ( bato-bato sa langit, ang tamaan, huwag magagalit!) Kaya love ko si Ptr. Ed Lapiz, eh.. Binigyan ni Lord ng mandate for " CULTURAL REDEMPTION" Many years back.. Ang daming naasar.. nagalit.. and what have you.. IRRELEVANT SA MODERN TIMES daw... sa ngayon..ang nakakalungkot, kapwa niya mga christian brethren, mga"comrades-in-arms',.. dapat na mga Christian Pinoy leaders ang mag-uphold.. again.. biblical naman ito, eh.. sO WHAT ELSE IS NEW??? Every Sunday sa Worship Services being held in Day by Day sa Folk Arts, -is a " LIVING MUSEUM!!!" The old people remembers.. the young people are being ushered and taught of their heritage.. these are the costumes.. these are the musical instruments..it might not be all.. but everything must have a " BEGINNING." A GENESIS.. In one of his preachings, sabi niya- " masiyado daw tayong walang pagpapahalaga at respeto sa ating nakaraan.. kahit sa mga heroes natin.. They built a HUGE LINCOLN MEMORIAL to honor the man..sa Washington, D.C

Kaninong kasalanan ito?? KUNG MAY GUSTONG MAG-SHARE NG iNSIGHT OR WHATEVER.. FEEL FREE TO DO SO.. LET US ALWAYS REMEMBER..PINOY TAYO SAANMAN!!!!! ( PTS!).

Why the Past? (Bakit ang Nakaraan?)

July 23, 2009, Thursday
Daly City

Why the PAST????? May kasabihan tayo sa Pilipinas that goes like this- " ANG HINDI LUMINGON SA PINANGGALINGAN, HINDI MAKAKARATING SA PAROROONAN.. I don't know if my transalation is right.. and this my " own" transalation- KNOW WHERE YOU CAME FROM.. TO KNOW WHERE YOU ARE GOING..

Ano ba ang mga MUSEUMS??? Di ba ang mga inilalagay doon yung mga artifacts.. written and in kind na mga costumes... etc. and etc.. In other words, HISTORY NG ISANG BANSA.. CULTURE or KULTURA ng isang nation or bansa..The past week nagpunta kami ng " tribo" Gonzalez, ( mga anak ko siyempre sila!!
SA ' SAMURAI." At may kasama kaming mga " dear friends nila from Guam.. Si Timothy Trotter, a 34- year old black man ( parang si Obama.. His dad is black.. His mom is a white woman.) and si Dedeth, co-teacher nila sa Guam, nag-aaral ngayon sa Sanfo..may pinag-aaralan siya na subject- that would be needed sa pagtuturo niya pagbalik sa Guam, this school year.

We went to the ASIAN MUSEUM.. siyempre pag Asia, sakop ang Chinese, Korean, Hindu, Japanese culture..( depende which part of the globe, di ba??) What is in there sa museum?? MGA ARTIFACTS.. USED FOR EVERY DAY LIVING LIKE PLATES.. MUGS, KNIVES, etc.. MGA DAMIT.. for every day wear.. for social gatherings.. for BATTLES.. against their enemies.. armors - that is..I am sure that the older people who will have the time and patience to read this note - alam naman ito, eh.. Puera na lang kung hindi nila " type." Ha ha ha!!! I did mention to Amor when we were viewing the stuff doon sa museum na " ANILA ITOng PINAKA-COMPREHENSIVE and pinakamakapal na book na nakita ko in all my local travels, nakita ko sa Laguna, when we visited you.. It was about CHINA..I would have wanted to read it, pero we just stayed overnight, so there was not much time..and Amor was living for Guam the next day with her daughter, Alissa.

So when you look deeper, sa mga nakikita mo sa mga museum.. you get a glimpse of WHO THEY ARE.. WHAT THEY BELIEVED IN.their beliefs and most especially how they perceive God.. most times they already have " named' them..But this much I have learned in life, in all my 65 years here on this " BLUE PLANET EARTH - this is what the Apollo team- the " moon-walkers" called it!), this much I have learned.. Tama si RICK wARREN, WHEN HE SAID.. everything begins and ends with GOD. That it is not about us.. it is about GOD.. iiT IS WRITTEN - It is written in Ecclesiastes 3:11- HE HAS MADE EVERYTHING BEAUTIFUL IN ITS TIME.HE HAS ALSO SET ETERNITY IN THE HEARTS OF MEN; YET THEY CANNOT FATHOM WHAT GOD HAS DONE FROM BEGINNING TO END... My dear Victoria... FATHOM.. in simple words.. MAINTINDIHAN...Basing from what we are " seeing" now, all around us.. NAIINTINDIHAN na ba nila, humankind ANG gustong sabihin NG DIYOS??? Bakit??? AYAW NILANG INTINDIHIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! KASE ANG KAISIPAN NG MARAMING TAO, SILA AY GOD!!!! In my mind, when we were moving around..grabe.. ang gaganda ng mga gamiit nila.. colorfully and elaborately done..Then naisip ko.. Lord... matatapos din ang time namin here on earth.. Sabagay, hindi kaya ngayon, just like the time God was conceiving in His mind to create all that has been said.. and written in the Bible..HINIHINTAY NA LANG YUNG " GO" SIGNAL na " MY FATHER.. IS THIS - " THE TIME????? Sabagay, years back, sa Pilipinas, may isa ng song na nagawa to justify lahat ng ginagawa ng tao na mali, eh.." SAPAGKAT KAMI AY TAO LAMANG".. di ba ang singer nito si Ric Manrique??? He was a man much ahead of his time..

Godly Mentors

July 9, 2009, Tuesday
Daly City

My ABBA.. OUR FATHER...Good morning, Lord God... Praise and thank You for this day that You " alone" can make, so we need to rejoice and be glad in it as written Psalm 118:24..The time here in Sanfo is 8:03 am. Again.. it's quite foggy despite the season... the sun is hiding... deciding yet if it will " smile and shine" at Daly City ...Ha ha ha!!! My heart's been singing since last night..till this very moment .. thanking God for " GODLY MENTORS" ...that has been divinely connected to us, in our christian walk...different times.. different seasons in our lives... men and women whose " random acts of love and kindness " quickened our sagging spirits.. lifted up " the blur" in our minds.. said a word, that hit bull's eye... in our hearts.. made our tired bodies dance with joy!!! and I see their faces appear one by one at the fb..In God's time... I pray.. I don't know when.. how.. or where.. but I want the world to know who they are...........
