Have you ever seen the simple DVD movie, titled - " NOT ONE LESS?" For those who have watched this movie, I am sure that somehow, one way or the other, you were blessed...The little I know of movies, somehow, this was adapted locally in the Philippines, portrayed by a young beautiful woman, the younger of the two movie stars, with an Italian heritage, and a Pinay mother. It was said that the younger of the two sisters is more gifted and talented in her acting career. The older one got hitched and married a very wealthy businessman- politiician in a prosperous province in the South of the Philippines, many years back.
This was a very simple story, of a very young girl, ( was she 13 or 14 years old? ), who by destiny was thrown into a " TEACHING CAREER," in one of the remotest part of a barrio in China...The unlikely substitute teacher for a seasoned older teacher... But in abject poverty, the teen-girl had no choice...From beginning to end, the movie in its simplicity, has stirred quite a number of hearts, enough for some enterprising showbiz people to adapt it locally...And it touched our hearts deeply, my children and myself. From beginning to the end of the movie, it bespeaks of the DIGNITY, COMMITMENT, SACRIFICES, of being a TEACHER... An unlikely teacher to unlikely young, poverty- stricken, unruly students.
The credits at the end of the movie stated that THIS WAS A TRUE STORY... Many times, as in real life, TRUTH IS STRANGER THAT FICTION..And at the end of the movie, the unlikely, ill-fitted young teacher became a " GREAT CHANNEL OF BLESSING" for all the children and that whole community in China, and she herself was rewarded in all aspects of life, and ended up famous, with all the trappings of being one, destined to be, like ouir very own track and field renowned world-wide legend, - LYDIA DE VEGA. Remember her ?
It was for this very reason, that our Mission Trip came to be, in the Philippines.. IF ONLY FOR THE 70 CHRISTIAN ELEMENTARY STUDENTS in Caba, La Union, that we rushed home to know the truth and for the families involved, to analyze, take action for the sake of the students. And from beginning to end too, of this cause, that God mobilized people, shared their time, talents, and resources, to make this mission trip possible.
Little did we know.. that that ONE STEP OF OBEDIENCE from all of us, that God would open more "
doors " to preach the Gospel and spread the Mandate of the GREAT COMMISSION - as written in MATTHEW 28: 18- " ALL AUTHORITY IN HEAVEN AND ON EARTH HAS BEEN GIVEN TO ME. 19 THEREFORE GO AND MAKE DISCIPLES OF ALL NATIONS, BAPTIZING THEM IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER AND OF THE SON AND OF THE HOLY SPIRIT, 20 TEACHING THEM TO OBEY EVERYTHING I HAVE COMMANDED YOU. AND SURELY I AM WITH YOU ALWAYS, TO THE VERY END OF THE AGE.
SURELY, HE WAS WITH US... FROM THE BEGINNING UP TO THE END OF OUR MISSION TRIP.
